1920s Parasol

A charming 1920s parasol. It has a green waxy material cover and a separate coloured lining. The handle is a gold coloured metal with detail. In good working condition, no tears. There are a few old (stain?) marks on the edges of the outer cover.

Paris Magazines, 1938-1939

An interesting selection of the French magazine ‘Match’ from a turbulent period in world history. Ten magazines dated, (with condition)

  • 1st September 1938, used condition with frays and folds to edges. Edouard Daladier on the cover, French minister of the Armed Forces.

  • 22nd September 1938, better used condition with frays to edges. British PM Neville Chamberlain on the cover.

  • 13th October 1938, better used condition with frays to the edges. A woman at a French Car show on the cover.

  • 20th October 1938, better used condition with small paper folds and tears to cover bottom edge. American Opera singer, Grace Moore, on the cover.

  • 22nd December 1938, used condition with a tear to the front cover. Scuffing to spine and edges. On the cover, Hope Chandler, the 19 year old dancer who married the son of an American tycoon.

  • 16 March 1939, better used condition with scuffs to edges. Household cavalryman on the cover.

  • 20th June 1939, better used condition inside, back cover loose. Scuffing to edges. Young woman on a beach on the cover.

  • 29th June 1939, better used condition. Scuffing to spine, loose in places. An image of a lady in a ostrich feather hat at the Eiffel Tower gala on the cover.

  • 13 July 1939. better used condition in inside. Front cover and back cover loose. On the cover a solider on a camel, ‘At the head of the white Platoon’.

  • 20th July 1939. Better used condition inside. Front and back cover loose, with pen marks to the front cover. On the cover, a lady from the ‘World of Tomorrow Exposition in New York’.

    Each magazine is 27 cm by 36 cm.

Paper Collectables

  1. A 1988 facsimile copy of a Stoke & Son, Steam Carriage, Van and Wagon Works booklet of 1890. 60 pages, lots of illustrations and paper cover. Good condition with one small surface rub to the back cover from a removed small sticker and a small yellow stock sticker beneath it. 19 cm by 25 cm. £5 plus p&p

  2. A paper catalogue of the Stock and Trade of General Groceries by order of the Trustees of Upper Mitcham. To be sold by auction, Tuesday 25th December 1906. Good condition of this paper catalogue, it just has a few pencil marks and general light wear. 14.5 cm by 21 cm. £4 plus p&p

  3. A paper program for Brighton Hippodrome, August 1st 1921. Listing for all the performances and variety acts as well as advertising. Good condition for it’s age with some wear in the form of slight discoloration. 14 cm by 21.5 cm. £4 plus p&p

  4. A pair of Victorian or Edwardian tea labels. Good condition and colour, only slight discoloration to the actual paper. 11.5 cm by 12.5 cm. SOLD

  1. A late 18th or early 19th hand forged iron trivet decorated with a heart design. Good condition for age. 49 cm long by 24 cm at the widest point and 9 cm high. SOLD

Mini garden tools

A charming set of four miniature/children’s garden or perhaps sandpit tools. This vintage set is in used condition with wear. The wooden handled fork has some rust and there is paint chipping to the other pieces which are metal. On the handle of trowel the words, MADE IN ENGLAND, are faintly visible.

The spade measures, 23 cm in length.

  1. A charming Victorian souvenir deep red velvet covered box with a glass photograph of Kirstall Abbey, Leeds. There is wear to the velvet and around the edges of the base but the lid opens easily and is not loose. No chips to the glass. It measures, 13 cm by 9 cm. £15 plus p&p

  2. A light wooden handled wax seal press. It has a brass press with a Fleur de Lys design. In very good condition. £8 plus p&p

Post Office Savings coin banks

A pair of early 20th century Post Office Savings post box coin banks.

  1. The taller of the pair is a sealed coin bank with the remains of a Post Office Savings Bank label. 1920s-1930s. It has wear as you would expect with age but no dents or bangs. It stands 6.5 cm high. £10 plus p&p

  2. The smaller post box has a label which reads, Post Office SAVINGS BANK. Again a sealed post box. In reasonable condition with some wear. 1910s-1920s. Again no dints or bangs. It stands 5 cm high. SOLD

Anyone for cricket?

A real quirky piece of social/sporting history. What seems to be the pieces used in the process of producing cricket balls. Along with a label for, WISDENS, PENSHURST.

Wisdens took over the production of cricket balls at Penshurst in 1920 from Duke & Sons. The production was continued until 1961. The set is in a 1940s-1950s Barbour’s children’s shoe box. The box has some wear, especially to the lid. But the contents seem almost as new, even with an unused and complete cricket ball. There are leather parts, cork, fillings and even the gold transfer stamps. Perhaps this was a demonstration set?

Little Gems

Delightful little gem glass pieces.

  1. Six charming mini liqueur glass. Hand blown with a ribbed effect bowl. One of the glasses is slighter smaller in height and some have ‘off circular’ bases. Believed to be vintage. There are no chips or scratches and they are in good condition. They stand around 8 cm high, with the smaller one at 7.5 cm high. £15 plus p&p

1950s Glass Milk Saver

A delightful piece of vintage kitchenalia. A 1950s glass milk saver. Made by Sovirel, France and distributed by Murell Ltd, London. In its original box which is in reasonable condition with some foxing to the back of the card. But it holds its shape well. The glass piece is in very good condition with just slight age wear to the edge. The glass measures 8 cm across. The box measures 8.5 cm by 8.5 cm by 1.5 cm deep.

4 Stuart crystal glasses 1926

A gorgeous set of four crystal sundae or desert glasses with fixed bases. They have a ribbed stem with a cut glass design of lines and hanging leaves. Marked on the base for ‘Stuart’ and a Rd number of 719538, 1926. All in very good condition with minor wear use to the bases. they measure approximately, 6.5 cm high by 11 cm wide.

A E Howarth etching, ‘A Barrowmaker’

A turn of the 20th century framed etching by, Albany E Howarth (1872-1936). An etcher and watercolour artist born in Durham who went on to produce illustrative work for Northern newspapers and periodicals before travelling. Howarth was widely exhibited including, The Royal Academy, Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, Fine Art Society, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour etc. This etching is signed by the artist as well as the title of the piece. The etching measures approximately, 22.5 cm by 15 cm. Overall, 40 cm by 33 cm. With undisturbed original backing. In overall reasonable condition for its age with some foxing spots (tiny) to the mount and around the edges of the etching.

WW2 era RAF Napkin Ring

A charming little WW2 era officers mess napkin ring with the RAF emblem. A piecered design with the emblem on one side and a blank oval cartouche on the other. Marked inside E.P.N.S or elcetro plated nickle silver (silver plate). Overall in very good condition. It measures approximately, 4.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm deep and 4 cm high.

Dressed to impress, February 1932

A fascinating piece of social history in the form a large photograph of the, Guild of Hairdressers, Wigmakers and Perfumers, February 1932. Held at the famous, Holbon Restaurant, Kingsway, London.

The guild was begun in 1900, with one of it’s first major Cup winners being, Vidal Sasson. The now lost Holbon Restaurant, opened in 1874, was regarded as one of London’s grandest. And it was even mentioned in the Sherlock Holmes novel, A Woman in Scarlet. This photograph was taken by society photographer, Frank Arthur Swaine (1871.-1952). It is in enclosed in a fold back paper cover. On the front of which is the name, Swaine, along with the royal warrants of Queen of Norway, The King and Queen of Spain, The Crown Princess of Sweden and Queen Amelia of Portugal.

Condition wise, sadly there has been some water staining to the paper cover. and the photograph itself has two patches of water staining in lines to the left hand corner of the image (see photo). The edges of the card backing have age wear with the bottom right hand corner having a fold. The photograph measures approximately, 46.5 cm x 25 cm. Overall, 48.5 cm x 28 cm.

Souvenir Cruise Liner Jigsaw RMS Queen Elizabeth

A jigsaw depicting Cunard’s RMS Queen Elizabeth. From a painting by maritime artist Charles Edward Turner (1883-1965). This jigsaw is a smaller cousin to larger pieces found. Sold on board during cruises of the period, 1930s-1960s. Complete and in very good condition. The box has some age wear with some scuffing to the corners and edges and the remnant traces of sticky tape. It measures (jigsaw) approximately, 14 cm x 9 cm.

4 Wall Calendars with Derby Winners 1965,1966,1968 & 1970

Four handsome card wall calendars produced for Geo. Scruton & Son, 151a Tang Hall Lane, York, members of the B.P.A (British Parking Association?). Featuring images of the previous years Derby winners. Each calendar features (3 with) a printed colour image with a simulated painted/textured finish and one smooth. Printed by B & M Ltd, Wisbech. Each calendar is card mounted, three with a ribbon for hanging and one a card pullout hanger. At the bottom of each is flip calendar.

Corresponding to single photographs above,

  1. Calendar for 1967 with a textured image of Charlottown, the Derby winner for 1966. A full and unused calendar on a dark grey/blue matte card. In overall good condition. 30 cm x 37 cm overall.

  2. Calendar for 1966 with a textured image of Sea Bird II, the Derby winner for 1965. The calendar has only the month of December 1966 left on it. In overall good condition with a few scuff spots to the card front in the top right hand corner. 30 cm x 37 cm overall.

  3. Calendar for 1970 with an smooth image of Blakeney, the Derby winner for 1969. It has a full unused calendar on a dark grey/blue matte card. This one is on a glossy white card backing in overall good condition. 33.5 cm x 36.5 cm overall.

  4. Calendar for 1965 with a textured image of Santa Claus, the Derby winner for 1964. It again has a full unused calendar on a dark grey/blue matte card. In overall good condition. 30 cm x 37 cm overall.

WW1 postcard, Belgian soldier

A very evocative postcard dated most likely to 1916. It is written by a Belgian soldier letting the recipient know of his new address. The postcard talks of the Germans killing ‘our side’ and mentions the death of a friend in a blast, ten meters from him. To see the translation please see the photograph above. The image on the postcard is of Pervyse, Belgium, after the bombing by the Germans, 1914-1915. This postcard has no stamp or postmark.

WW1 era postcard in French

A charming postcard showing a coloured image of two men washing their hands and faces. Written on the postcard is, ‘Un bain de toilette - J.L.C

The postcard is written in French from a young woman called Juliette, and mentions Reims. She also refers to someone (a man) called Colbert and alludes to him in some kind of military service, maneuvers. A translation is among the photographs above.

It is in reasonable condition for it’s age. The postage stamp is mostly on the front of the postcard with a little on the back with a postmark for Reims.

6 WWI postcards to the Banthorpe family

A set of six WW1 postcards all addressed to and from members of the Banthorpe family.

A poignant set of postcards to the children and in-laws of Mr & Mrs Samuel Banthorpe, of 30 Park Road, Clarence Gate, Regents Park, London. Possibly all from 1916. The postcards show as follows. One shows a coloured postcard of Malta and with no postmark. One shows a coloured image of the a French cyclists company, posted 1916. One a image of the Verandah, M.I Military Hospital, Whitchurch, Glam, posted 24th July 1916. One shows a ruined church in Clermont, Argonne, military post July 1916. One shows an image of Ypres after two years of war, posted 1916. And finally, one shows Belgian soldiers in a forest, military post July 1916.

Mr and Mrs Banthorpe are listed in London newspaper from 1915 to announce the marriage of their son, Frederick, to Miss Maragret Herd. Another son, Samuel, married a Winifred Allen in 1916. Winifred was from Framlington, Suffolk. One postcard is addressed to a Miss Nellie Banthorpe at Apsey Green, Framlington, Suffolk. One sister, Ada, seems to be a nurse. A brother, Louis, seems to have been in Ligne Hospital, Malta, in October 1916. A brother Jim writes injured to Nellie from the Military Hospital, Whitchurch, Glam in 1916. While another postcard is written to Messer Teddy Banthorpe.

They are all in reasonable condition for their age and use. Some have pencil writing while some are in ink. Please refer to the photographs.

A mix of mementos

An eclectic mix of mementos for the pocket, desk and table.

  1. A French 19th century horn snuff box with a horseshoe design. Its opens with a press clasp at the front. On the inside is a raised metal design of a horse and rider jumping a rail fence. Underneath is written, W D, PARIS, Despose. This is fixed to the inner hinge and sadly the left side is broken (see photographs). Otherwise in overall good condition for its age with a working clasp. It measures approximately, when closed, 9.5 cm long by 8 cm wide and 2 cm high. SOLD

  2. An interesting item. An Edwardian era wooden roller blotter. Reportedly once owned by (William) George McLaughlin 1939-1919. He was the son of Rev Hubert, rector of Burford and his wife, Frederica. Born in London and later in life in became an agent to the 1st Earl of Feversham (of Rydale), William Ernest Duncombe of Duncombe Park, Helmsley, North Yorkshire. The item is in very good condition and has impressed gold letters of, GEORGE MCLAUGHLIN. It measures 31 cm in length. £28 plus p&p

  3. A Victorian photograph of a village house and garden from the road. The photograph is sealed behind glass and was most likely originaly on a box or album. In good condition overall for age. There is one small chip to a corner of the glass and the back is black card with some marks.. Sadly the location is unknown. £10 plus p&p

The Shucksmith Cart

A beautifully put together and charming model of the Shucksmith cart. A wooden model of an 1854 cart made by T W Shuckmith and Sons of Alvingham, Lincolnshire. This mid 20th century model is after a full size cart which is on display at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. A really well observed piece with movable wheels and frame. The back is hinged and drops down and there are two bars added to each side which are removable. There is also a wooden wheel brake on a chain. On the front facing panel are four plaques of the maker, date and their locations. It has orange shade wheels and workings with black points. A deep blue body with a brown brown inner base and yellow and red features to the front.

It is in overall very good condition. It has the odd spot of scuffed paint and the metal removable lock on one pair of the side pieces is missing. But a genuinely charming piece. It measures, 65 cm in overall length, 18 cm at the widest point and 19 cm at the highest point.

1950s Chiltern Toys Push Along ‘Fox Terrier’

This delightful little push along toy has some real character. Made by Chiltern Toys in the 1950s and fashioned as a Fox Terrier. Chiltern Toys was established by Josef Eisemman in 1908, in the shadow of the Chiltern Hills. He is a Mohair covered dog with amber eyes, plastic nose and stitched mouth, and with a red plastic collar which has a added gold coloured tag engraved with the name, ‘SIDNEY’. He is on a red painted metal frame with two black wooden foot pads and rubber tyres. In overall reasonable condition for his age. There are places of wear to the mohair, especially on the face (missing hair) and back (missing hair, rubbed away from a sitting child) with some discoloration as would be expected with age. The frame is in reasonable condition with minimal rust patches and a few spots of missing painting. He has two Chiltern Toys tags on his underside. One for the maker (see photograph) and the other for ‘CHILTERN Hygenic Toys, Made in England’.

He measures approximately, 58 cm long by 65 cm high and 29 cm deep.

He is a heavy-ish item but can be sent by Next day Delivery or can be collected.

Luxury Jewellers box 1920s-1930s James R Ogden, Harrogate

A real little time capsule item. A strong well made card box for jewellery produced the luxury Jewellers, James R Ogden of 40 James Street Harrogate. This may have been a wedding gift box.

A company begun by James Robert Ogden (1866-1940) who had been apprenticed to John Greenhalgh in Harrogate. In the 1930s the company acquired the famous diamond coronet commissioned by Napoleon for his wife Josephine. They also created a wedding gift for Prince George, later the Duke of Kent, for his bride, Princess Marina, from a set of jewellery belonging to Queen Alexandria. The company is still in business today.

The box is in overall good condition for its age. It has a slight water stain and rough area to the top and a couple of scratches (see photograph). The box is very strong and holds it shape. The bottom sections slots into the top. It measures when closed approximately, 31.5 cm long by 16.5 cm deep and 11 cm high. The other items in the photograph are not included and are not for sale.

Hand coloured lithograph ‘View Halloo’

A handsome hand coloured lithograph named ‘View Halloo’. Engraved by C R Stock after the painting by E A S Douglas and published by Arthur Ackermann 1898-1905 ( The company became, Arthur Ackermann & Son Ltd in 1906).

The original painting is dated 1898 and a work of Barnes based artist, Edward Algernon Stuart Douglas (1850-1920). Douglas was a sporting and animal painter who exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1880 and 1882. The piece was engraved by mid Victorian engraver C R Stock, who specialized in sporting and coaching works. The piece was publised by Arthur Ackermann (1830-1914) of 141 Regent Street, London. A business began by his grandfather in 1794, which became the leading publisher of coloured plates at the begining of the 19th century and is still in business today.

Condition wise this is a lovely piece with great colour. There is some foxing at the edges past the image, directly inside the mount (see photograph). But the image is clear and without marks or foxing spots. It has been re-framed in the mid 20th century, resulting in this paper covered wooden frame with a very pale blue mount. On the back is a sticker for, James Little, Picture Frame Maker, Fine Art Dealer, 1 London Road, Kilmarnock. A member of the Fine Art Trade Guild. Also on the label in black ink is written, ‘ ‘VIEW HALLOO, ENGRAVED BY C R STOCK after E A S DOUGLAS’. The frame measures approximately, 53 cm by 40 cm, The actual image is, 33.5 cm by 20 cm.

Early 20th century French metal dolls bed

A beautifully charming early 20th century (1910s) French metal dolls bed. The frame is made of metal with twisted style posts, pole lats to the base and a pole canopy and hook. It’s original white paint has aged to a cream colour. The posts stand on metal castors, which have some wear and one is missing. Ribbon has been threaded through holes on both side rails. It includes a ticking covered feather mattress, which has three mattress dimples. This is covered with a period linen cover which has a linen lace edge to three sides and an embroidered floral design. The canopy is draped with again period linen with a linen lace edge. This large piece has an old repair to one corner which is labelled with repairers name in red letters, ‘Hettie S J Smith’.

The metal frame is in reasonable condition. There is wear as you can imagine and a missing castor as mentioned above. There are spots of rust and paint wear throughout although it is still very sturdy. The mattress is in very good condition, the mattress cover has some wear to the lace age in the form of small missing sections to the design. The canopy cover has a small orange stain and a hole in the lace edge but is otherwise in good condition. The bed measures approximately, 56 cm long by 29 cm wide and 52 cm high including the canopy pole. The canopy linen measures 106 cm by 52 cm. (The teddy bear is not included in the sale and is not for sale).

A Chamberlains Worcester set 1807-1810

With a Davenport stand plate 1869

A elegantly stunning set of Chamberlains Worcester porcelain. This fifteen piece set consists of three tea bowls and saucers, two cups and saucers, a teapot with a stand, a sugar box, a slop bowl and a single saucer. It is a fluted white design with gold applied loop border pattern, gold line rims and edges. Each saucer and bowl/cup and slop bowl has a central floral spray in gold. The finials on the lids of both the tea pot and sugar box have a spiral gold design. This set can be bought as a whole or separately. Each set is marked by number to relate to each photograph above. The lids of both the teapot and sugar box are marked underneath by hand for Chamberlain’s Worcester. The teapot lid also featuring ‘Warranted’. This warrant was awarded in 1807. So this sets date range is 1807-1810.

  2. A fluted tea pot and lid standing on a plate. Gold loop borders on both the bowl and lid with gold line rims. The lid has a gold floral display on each side and a spiral gold design finial. The hand written mark, ‘Chamberlain’s Worcester Warranted’ is applied in gold on the inside of the lid. In good condition with no chips. There is a very small line firing mark to the underside of the lid rim. There are a few dark spots to the surface, although they seem to be firing spots that have filled over time with dust etc.. There is use wear to the base rim of the plate and teapot. The gold is good throughout, with very slight rubbing to the inner line on both the plate and lid. The teapot finial has been replaced/restored at a previous time. The teapot measures approximately,18.5 cm high (including lid) and 15 cm across at the widest point. The plate measures, 15.5 cm by 12 cm. £90 plus p&p

  3. A fluted cup and saucer. Gold loop borders on both the bowl and lid with gold line rims. The saucer has a gold floral display in the center. In good condition, again with a few tiny dark spots. With some slight crazing to the glaze on the cup. The gold is in good condition with very slight spot wear to the fluted edges on the saucer. The saucer measures approximately, 14.5 cm across, the cup is 7 cm across by 6.3 cm high. £40 plus p&p

  4. A fluted tea bowl and saucer. Gold loop borders on both the bowl and lid with gold line rims. The saucer and tea bowl have a gold floral display in the center. In good condition. The saucer has a couple of firing spots/pits to the underside. The tea bowl has a couple of these as dark spots to the outside as well as a very small firing line to the base. The gold on the tea bowl is in very good condition throughout. On the saucer there is some wear to the gold rim and to the inner gold line and floral design. The saucer measures approximately, 14.3 cm across, the tea bowl is 8.6 cm across. £40 plus p&p

  5. A fluted tea bowl and saucer. Gold loop borders on both the bowl and lid with gold line rims. The saucer and tea bowl have a gold floral display in the center. In good condition overall. Both have slight firing spots, more so on the tea bowl. There is a very small old chip to the outside of the rim on the tea bowl. The gold is in good overall condition. A handsome wooden cribbage board with advertising for Wills’s ‘Honey Cut’ Tobacco. Produced in the 1920s-1930s and most likely used in a pub or club. A real standout piece with tons of charm and presence. It is a large and heavy handmade Victorian pine crib. In good solid condition, it comes with a linen covered cushion/pillow which has a lace edge and a ticking covered feather filled mattress/base. The crib rests on two rockers which work perfectly. An 1865 French lithograph

A beautifully charming framed French lithograph. The lithograph is from a work by Jules David (1808-1892 Paris) and was produced in 1865 by J David & J Bonnard. It depicts two types of 18th century female dress. It is in perhaps its original mount and frame. The frame is walnut veneer, it has a gold liner and glass. It is in very good condition, it has a few spots of foxing but is still a very handsome piece. It measures approximately, 39 cm by 44 cm overall. The exposed lithograph measures, 16 cm by 19 cm. On the back is written, C 1865 and Artist J David in more modern pen.

1919 boxed card game - Pit

A little piece of social history from days gone by. A boxed set of 79 cards for the game, Pit. Produced by Parker Brothers, Salem, Massachusetts, New York and London. It also contains a leaflet of rules, two pages of the rules to the Bull and Bear Edition. A ripped leaflet (half page) of rules and a small card promotion for another Parker Brothers game, Rook. On the inside of the lid is a small hand written ditty and face, period drawn in pencil. The set is in reasonable condition for its age. The cards are play worn but still usable and readable. Some have pencil marks. The box itself is again play worn with a few pencil marks, but still retains its good colour. The box measures approximately, 14 cm by 10 cm.

A vintage equestrian themed purse

A quaint little vintage leather purse with a scene of a rider falling from his horse. The purse has a metal frame and working clasp. On the inside it is lined with a peacock blue satinette type material, with a light brown silk section with a leather pocket.

A trio of Maritime souvenirs

A trio of souvenirs from the glory days of the Liners.

  1. A lovely little silver plated jug with an enameled logo baring two flags and the name ‘RMS Durham Castle.’ It dates from around the 1910s. This ship was built by the Union Castle Line in 1903 and served on the Cape of Good Hope to Mombasa service. In 1918 she was part of a channel convoy that met disaster when her sister ship the, Kenilworth Castle, collided with HMS Rival. She continued service until 1931. In reasonable condition for it’s age with some wear to the plate. It measures 6 cm high (including handle) and 10 cm long. £30 plus p&p

A child’s folding wooden chair and stool

A delightful set of children’s folding wooden outdoor furniture. The chair has more age to it than the stool but still a great set.

The chair is in overall good condition for it’s age and folds away easily. Someone at some time has written a child’s name in pencil on the back of the rest. It measures approximately, (when opened up) 55 cm high and 28.5 m wide at the seat. When folded, 66 cm by 28.5 cm.

1936 AGFA Photographic developing fluid

A very interesting little item from an equally interesting period in history. A small bottle of green photographic developing fluid made by AGFA in Berlin on 29th May 1936. The writing on the box is all in German, with the date printed on the side. Inside the box is the bottle, with the date last used written on the label in ink as 1937. There is also a fold out tissue like paper set of user instructions. The bottle is corked and still has fluid in it. Both the bottle and box are in good condition. The paper instructions have been folded a few times but are reasonable. The box measures, 6 cm by 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm. The little bottle measures 4 cm high.

An original Watercolour, 1957

A delightful large water colour of a Welsh Cob mare called, Merch-Y-Brenin, by D Wright. Signed and dated, 1957 in the bottom right hand corner.

The mare was bred by Richard Tudor and owned by Miss P F Furness. She was by Royal Welsh Show Champion, Brenin Gwalia out of Goyan Black Bess. She was the dam of two foals, Foxfire and Honyton Proteous.

The painting is in very good condition and is in it’s original light wooden frame. On the back is the framers label for, John Mathieson & Co, Edinburgh. As well as the horses name.

A lovely late 19th century to early 20th century apprentice piece as an inlaid coal cabinet with brass mouldings. The door opens using a small brass handle and inside is a removable metal insert. There is line inlay on the front, sides and on the sides of the base. The top has two squares of inlay and a fan inlay in each corner. The overall condition is reasonable for age and wear, some of the line inlay is missing in places. The base stands on four brass circular stands. It measures approximately, 21.7 cm high by 18 cm wide and 15.5 cm deep.

  1. A boxed game of ‘Rummy’. This card game was made in the USA by United Games Co, Brooklyn, New York. Sold in England with English rules (Cooncan) and is dated around 1916. It consists of a little paper rule book and 44 cards. The rule book gives instructions on how to play, Rummy, Parquet, Coronado, Foozle, Jaimy, Hoodoo, Numero, Sachem, Quatro, Doolittle, The Despised Nines, Ups and Downs and Moosehead. The box is in good condition for its age with some rubbing to the edges. There are a couple of pencil written notes on the rule book.   2. A 1930s Tit-Bits teaser Game. A boxed wooden puzzle game made by George Newness Ltd, Southampton Street, London. In reasonable condition for age.   3. The Beacon Printing Outfit. A boxed set of rubber printing words with an extra block and tweezers. This is a printing set for the pre-book stage of the Beacon Plan for teaching reading. In its original stained light wood frame. In overall good condition, there is a crack in the top left hand corner of the glass and some water marks to the mount, see photographs. German silver napkin ring - 1913

A really beautiful napkin ring, marked for German silver (15) (on rim) and engraved with the girls name, Hedwig. On the inside is engraved the year 1913. Possibly a birth or christening gift.

An interesting 1930s page turner made of Ivorine (an early resin). Probably made as a sample gift for customers or an item used by company salesmen.

Made for Kynoch Ltd, an ammunition manufacturer. Founded in 1862 in Witton, Birmingham. Better known today as a sporting cartridge maker under the banner of Eley Limited.

In reasonable condition for its age, with some wear to the logo. It measures approximately 22.5 cm long and 2.5 cm wide.

An elegant small Victorian blown glass bowl with an engraved design of ferns. It stands on seven applied glass feet, each with an impressed design. At the center of the base is an aplied strawberry design piece of glass.

WWI Era Mini handmade dominoes in box

A really lovely little set of handmade dominoes in a scratch built box. Made from bone with stained wooden backs and kept in a pine box with a hinged lid and clasp.

They are a set of 55 (double 9) dominoes. The box seems to be scratch made and on the base is written and stamped, a patent number, 98 and some hand written numbers and letters.

Each domino is approximately 3 cm by 1.5 cm. The box measures 16.5 cm wide, 9 cm deep and 6 cm high, In overall good condition for it’s age.
